Islamic social finance is becoming discussed direction, and social financial tools have been implemented for poverty and hunger alleviation in society for more than a thousand years. While financial technology is one of the most important innovations developing at the swift speed, partly driven by information technology and favourable regulation. The paper aims to research the role of financial technology in solving social challenges in the country through Islamic social instruments.

Assessing the Impact of Non-Tariff Measures on Imports and Overall Protection in OIC

The paper discusses the decline in tariffs and the increasing use of nontariff measures (NTMs) in countries constituting the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The paper calculates frequency ratios (number of imports subject to NTMs), coverage ratios (Import value subject to NTMs), tariff equivalent (AVEs) of NTMs, and overall protection (protection provided by tariff and AVEs) for the years 1997 to 2015. The analysis shows that the usage of NTMs has increased in recent decades. More than 50 percent of trade in most countries was subject to NTMs as of 2015.

Social and Literary Structures: How Are They Interrelated?

This paper critically reviews the models of the relationship between literary structures such as narrative and discourse, on the one hand, and social structures such as social networks, on the other. It first critically analyzes the earlier one-sided, non-reciprocal models and continues with a survey of the more recent reciprocal models which are suggested by scholars from a wide range of disciplines. Finally, it outlines how these new reciprocal models can shed more light on the interaction between literary and social structures.

Toward an Open Science and Society: Multiplex Relations in Language, Religion and Society

In this paper I introduce a new concept, "open science," to denote a pluralist and democratic science culture. I aim that an open society requires, on both the local and the global levels, an open science. For science culture plays a significant role in shaping the political cultures which have a direct impact on social relations and human rights. I call for reform of our exclusionist science culture with the aim of better understanding the world, and, at the same time, of promoting a more democratic attitude towards alternative explanations and interpretations.
