The work is the first reference book devoted to the field of Islamic banking and finance. It is divided into three parts, the first of which deals with a general introduction of the Islamic banking industry. The author principally discusses theoretical matters, but the International Association of Islamic Banks, Dar al-Maal al-Islaami, and the Islamic Development Bank are each addressed as well. It is in the second part of the volume that the actual directory of Islamic financial institutions is presented. A brief introduction precedes the index itself.
