This paper investigates the impact of remittance inflows on economic growth and poverty reduction for seven African countries using annual data from 1992-2010. By using the depth of hunger as a proxy for poverty in a Simultaneous Equation Model (SEM), we find that remittances have statistically significant growth-enhancing and poverty-reducing impact. Drawing on our estimates, we conclude that the financial development level significantly increases the remittances inflows and strengthens poverty alleviating impact of remittances.

With the increasing instances of malfeasance and frauds coming to light in the financial services industry, trust has become a key concern for customers. Fortunately, in the case of Islamic Finance, trust is a central tenet, and its importance can be seen through the emphasis of Amanah or trustworthiness that should be present in every financial transaction. However, it has been argued that the principle of trust has not been truly realized in Islamic Finance, or that there are still issues of distrust regarding anything which is obtrusively branded as “Islamic”.

Corruption is a widespread global problem that has far reaching negative consequences on all spheres of life.

The paper addresses the migrant-refugee debate in relation to recent refugee flows from Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq and other countries gaining unauthorized entry into Europe. This is compared with the accusations (and denials) that the wealthy countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council ( GCC ) states have not accepted any refugees from Syria in particular. It is argued that the definition of migrants and refugees is problematic in that they often converge with respect to livelihood needs and rights.

The prime objective of this study is to examine the impact of five macroeconomic indicators (oil price, gas price, money supply, interest rate, and producer price index) on the performance of Qatar Stock Exchange, which will be represented by two indices: QE Index (QEI) and Al Rayyan Islamic Index (RII). A comparison is held between the two indices to determine how similar or different they are impacted by the selected macroeconomic indicators.

This study aims to approach the traditional Islamic concept called "Ahlu al-Hall wa al-A’qd" that may be considered today as members of the parliament by investigating the historical context in terms of origination, revealing its conceptual and contractual foundations and how the nation (Ummah) has been the source of building the concept through the systematic practice of consultancy (Shura). Besides, in the Islamic historical experience, this concept shows that the idea of representation and deputation have appeared early in the Islamic social and political action.
