Engaging Primary Sources in Sufi Studies

This workshop concerns the primary sources associated with Sufi studies and will be conducted by Dr. Gavin Picken, with contributions from CIS alumnus, Osman Qazi. This is the first in a series of workshops that aims to provide an opportunity to engage with a variety of primary sources associated with the discipline of Islamic studies broadly conceived. Each workshop will introduce students to the complexities of the texts, including their historical context, authorial style, and conceptual influence, as well as practical issues related to interpretation, translation, and utilization.
