The talk explores the development of public values in the Tawhidi traditions during both the prophetic and rational phases of human evolution and examines the impact of these values on the rise and fall of public institutions and civil society. The lecture focuses particularly on the relevance of public values to cultural vibrancy and social cohesiveness in human societies in general and Muslim societies in particular, and discusses the crucial role played by the scholarly community in translating public values to societal relations and institutions.
