Islamophobia in the United States: History, Contributors, and Impact

The central research problem this thesis investigates is the threat of Islamophobia to American Muslims in the United States of America by proposing the following question. What is the threat of Islamophobia to American Muslims in the United States of America? The conceptual and theoretical framework guiding the study is that this thesis examined the rise of Islamophobia, nationalism, and anti-Muslim sentiments and acts of violence in the last two decades in the U.S. The researcher used a qualitative research method to investigate the rise and effect of Islamophobia by gathering secondary data from various books, academic papers and studies, reports, videos, and news articles that look at Islamophobia from various perspectives. These sources were mainly published within the last twenty years and provided an overview of the subject. The researcher argued that Islamophobia would compromise American Muslims' future and place them at significant risk if Islamophobia, nationalism, anti-Muslim hate crimes continue rising, and if more Islamophobe politicians occupy influential positions in the U.S. government. After examining such topics thoroughly, it can be concluded that there were indications and chronological events, and facts that supported the researcher's argument.
