Abstract
The aim of the study was to explore the concept of public value and its relationship to the Islamic concept of maslahah ammah. The study considered how the concept of public value and maslahah ammah can be used to understand the shift from the use of child- jockeys to robot jockeys in camel racing sports in Qatar. It argued that the literature on public value offers a rich framework that can integrate the Islamic concept of maslahah ammah and be used to study various cases in Muslim societies where policy decisions have been made that respond to political, social and economic changes. This study has four major parts. Part one offers a brief introduction. Part two examines the concept of public value. Part three considers the notion of maslahah amah and how it can be integrated into our understating of public value creation. Part four explores the case of robot camel jockey in Qatar. This is followed by a brief conclusion.
