Abstract

This thesis analyzes contemporary Muslim methods and institutions of business, the teachings of the Qur'an pertaining to business, and the relevance of Islam and its application of economic principles. Knowledge of Islamic and Qur'anic economic teachings are essential for understanding Islamic business practices. Both allowable and prohibited business practices are discussed with an analysis and appreciation of the spirit and principles underlying Islam. The compatibility of these methods with the teachings of the Qur'an will serve as a methodology for business practices.
