Islamic Finance at Harvard University

Founded in 1636, Harvard University is America’s oldest university and one of the most respected centres of higher education and research in the world. Harvard attracts an array of talented students and scholars. It houses the largest library collections of any academic institution in the world. Since the establishment of the Harvard Islamic Society in 1955, the University has continued to reemphasize its liberal attitude towards the study of Islam and other religions within a serene but academically challenging environment. In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in studying Islam. The Harvard Divinity School, Near Eastern Languages Civilization Department, Center for Middle Eastern Studies, the Islamic Legal Studies Program (ILSP), the Aga Khan Program for Islamic Architecture, the Islam in the West Program, and most recently, the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Islamic Studies Program demonstrate the breadth of coverage in these fields across the university’s various schools and disciplines. © Author
