Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) provides help to member countries, on their request, in any matter relating to the application of Shari’ah in their economies. It was in this context that IRTI responded positively when it received a request from the Government of Indonesia to organize a seminar on “Financial Institutions according to Shari’ah†for the officials of their Ministry of Finance, central and commercial banks, and other interested parties. These are the proceedings of the seminar that was held in Jakarta in September 1990.
