Abstract

The volume is a compilation of works from the 1993 Fifth International Islamic Economics Seminar held inWashington,DC. Dilnawaz Siddiqui's foreword is principally concerned with the conference itself. The introduction, contributed by Mohieldin Attia, touches on the state of Islamic economics and focuses on the International Institute of Islamic Thought. The editor's preface acknowledges contributions and briefly introduces papers contained in the volume. There are ten distinct papers, ranging in focus from questions like the places of the private and public sectors to corporate finance to a comparative look at bank efficiency to other topics. The studies are principally, though not nearly totally, theoretical in type.
