Abstract

A collection of thematic essays and case studies, edited by Clement M. Henry and Rodney Wilson. The thematic essays include topics such as: Islamic finance and global politics before and after September 11, comparisons between Islamic and conventional systems, murabaha , commodity markets, and capital flight. The case studies pertain to specific countries, including Sudan, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, and Tunisia. The main theme connecting the essays revolves around the relationships between and coexistance of Islamic finance and Islamist politics, and the political implications of developing Islamic financial institutions, and countering the perceived link between Islamic finance and terrorist networks.
