Abstract

These volumes provde an in-depth examination of legal issues pertaining to Islamic financial transactions. Volume 1 details the use of sales contracts, types of sales, loan contracts, lease arrangements, partnerships (including silent partnerships, or mudaraba), gifts, deposits, simple loans, and agency contracts. Volume 2 focuses on legal issues surrounding guaranty, debt, mortgages, settlements, absolution, entitlement, debt-clearance, coercion, interdiction, types of ownership, property (land and personal) rights, share-cropping rights, and preemption. The work as a whole serves as a reference point for a wide range of financial transactions and their justifications within Islamic law. Relevent legal decisions are discussed as well. A bibliography and citations (though not always complete) and are provided.
