Limitation on the Use of Zakah Funds in Financing Socioeconomic Infrastructure

This paper draws its conclusions about the role of zakat in poverty alleviation in light of the shari‘a and assesses the criteria for eligibility. The paper goes on to propose various ways and means of wider utilization of zakat proceeds for the community at large, including a 5-year plan for an annual zakat budget and many social services.
