Abstract

A decline in oil prices in the mid 1980s translated into diminishing revenues for the Saudi Arabian government. It became of great importance to find ways to maintain economic growth and the possibility of meeting population demand. There are several options that could reduce government expenditures. The most important would be a reduced government expenditure on the agricultural sector.
