Abstract

Whereas development can be understood in many ways, economists consider development to be a rise in per capita income. A developed economy differs from an underdeveloped one typically in economic factors and in non-economic factors as well. Islam's fusion of religion and politics solves many problems that otherwise exist in understanding development. Because all authority rests with God, there are no squabbles regarding which government has the right to rule. The sense of all Muslims as a single community fosters positive cooperation between the countries of the Islamic world. While Islam supports moderate nationalism, in its extreme form nationalism works against the religion. Al-Qur'an outlines the ethical manner with which governments should deal with the people.
