Partner, Dechert LLP; New York, New York Michael McMillen is a partner at Dechert LLP in the finance and real estate group. He has extensive experience in Islamic, project, and real estate finance, and is well-known for developing innovative Islamic Shari'a-compliant financing structures and products used in the Middle East, Europe, and the United States. He also has extensive experience in project finance in the energy, petrochemical, mining, and infrastructure sectors, and advising international real estate and private equity investment funds. McMillen was recently recognized by Euromoney magazine as a pioneer in the burgeoning Islamic banking and finance market. McMillen earned his B.B.A., with highest honors, in 1972 from the University of Wisconsin; an M.D., with honors, from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1983; and his J.D., with highest honors, in 1976 from the University of Wisconsin Law School where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and Executive Editor, Research and Writing, of the Wisconsin Law Review.
