(Advisor, Mission Chief for Algeria, expert lead on Islamic Finance: Middle East and Central Asia Department, International Monetary Fund, Washington D.C, U.S.A.) Zeine Zeidane is a national of Mauritania. He is currently an Advisor in the Middle East and Central Asia Department (MCD) at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He is leading the MCD work on Algeria, as well as on Islamic Finance. Before joining the IMF in March 2012, he held several positions in Mauritania notably Prime Minister, Governor of the Central Bank, and Economic Advisor to the President. He has also worked with the World Bank and the banking sector. He holds a Ph.D in Applied Mathematics and a Post-graduate Degree in Macroeconomics from the University of Nice, France.
