(Acting Dean, University of Ilorin and Legal Practitioner, Supreme Court of Nigeria, Nigeria) Abdulqadir Abikan is a legal practitioner, barrister and advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He has teaching, research and consulting experience, primarily in corporate management, Islamic banking and finance, business law, and Islamic business ethics. Abdulqadir took his Bachelor of Laws degree from Bayero University Kano, Nigeria and his Master of Laws from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He obtained his Ph. D in Islamic Banking and Finance Laws from International Islamic University Malaysia. He has taught at universities in Nigeria and internationally, including at International Islamic University Malaysia and University Brunei Darussalam. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. Abdulqadir has written on Islamic banking and finance, constitutional law, and environmental. He has published twenty articles in local and international refereed journals. He has also contributed chapters to books and has completed two books, Law, Practice and Regulation of Islamic Finance and Financial Institutions and Freedom of Opinion under the Islamic Law: A Comparative Approach (forthcoming, 2012). He was an editor of the University of Ilorin Law Journal and he has presented research papers in eleven international conferences. Abdulqadir is currently the Acting Dean of the Faculty and is a partner in Y. K. Saadu & Co., a private law firm in Ilorin, Nigeria.
