Previously, he worked as an independent consultant in the capital markets of Pakistan and as joint director at Pakistan's Securities and Exchange Commission. Hayat has been an active columnist with more than 60 articles on finance topics and business media. He holds the Islamic finance qualification awarded by Chartered Institute of Securities & Investment and Certificate in Islamic finance awarded by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
