(Co-founder and Managing Partner, Shekra Crowdfunding, Cairo, Egypt) Shehab is Co-founder and Managing Partner, Shekra Crowdfunding and Visiting Professor for Islamic Finance at Zayed University in the UAE and an award-winning expert in crowd funding, Islamic finance and computer-based financial services. Additionally, he is currently consultant to the World Bank for Islamic finance and Venture Capital strategies in MENA. Prior to that he worked with a number of startups such as being Product Development Director and Head of Research for IdealRatings Inc. a San Francisco-based startup. He received his PhD in Shari’a-compliant Portfolio Management from the University of Cologne in Germany and has published in the areas of Shari’a-compliant Crowd funding, Entrepreneurship and Islamic funds, which have appeared or were presented in numerous ranked international journals and events. He has been a Visiting Fellow at Durham University and is currently Visiting Lecturer at various universities, a technical committee member of the Finance Accreditation Agency in Malaysia as well as Board Member of the Egyptian Islamic Finance Association.
