(Reader, Durham University, Durham, United Kingdom) Mehmet is the Director of Durham Centre of Islamic Economics and Finance, Durham University, UK and Reader in Islamic Political Economy and Finance at the School of Government and International Affair, Durham University, UK. He is the Director of Durham Islamic Finance Summer School and the MA/MSc in Islamic Finance programs. He is also the Managing Director of Review of Islamic Economics, an Associate Editor of the American Journal of Islamic Social Science and also the Honorary Treasurer of BRISMES (British Society for Middle East Studies) and of the International Association for Islamic Economics. His current research includes Islamic moral and political economy, political economy of Islamic finance, and empirical Islamic finance.
