Abstract

The work, originally published in Urdu in 1969, intends to put forth the specifics as to how an interest-free institution can fill the role of a bank in the modern economic world. The author's premise is that interest is completely prohibited in the Shar'iah. His book sets forth a vision of the organization of an interest-free banking system. The work is divided into nine chapters. The first deals with founding the bank; the next, with some business aspects of the organization such as Mudarabah and shareholding. The third chapter describes the relationship between owners of capital and the bank. Next, loans given out by the bank are discussed in various aspects. The fifth chapter is devoted to credit creation practices. The next chapter deals with the central bank and particulars of its operations. The banking system and public finance are addressed in chapter seven. The eight chapter discusses consumer loans, and the last one offers some macroeconomic explanations. The author includes
