Abstract

This book begins with an overview of the shari`a principles on which Islamic banking is based, and the financial instruments that follow from that foundation. The second section details banking activities dealing with handling customers' deposits, project financing, wadi`a , mudaraba , and musharaka . The third section illustrates the functions of trade finance and the treasury, followed by a fourth section on accounting practices. The final chapter discusses the legal framework under which Islamic banks operate.
